Growing Adelanto

Planting
Oxnard: September 30 – October 2. Baja: around September 25.
Chill
Benefits from 50–100 hours of in-ground chill but doesn’t need it. Too much chill costs the early-harvest advantage.
Fertility
Around 800 lb of 18-8-13 pre-plant on sandy soils, less on heavier ground. Early-season nitrogen drives early yield.
Disease
Moderate resistance to Macrophomina and Verticillium. Standard programs for powdery mildew, botrytis and mites. Growth starts fast, so watch for early pests.
